As we have been to Paris for the launch party of our recent Paris Paname Issue at Chez Justin a couple weeks ago I got introduced by Thomas Busuttil to Clem Brunel, who is next to Lucas Puig and Stéphen Khou one of the three main guys behind the French fashion brand that is associated with the infamous umbrella symbol, Hélas.

Actually, I wanted to ask Clem if there would be a chance to buy some caps from him before I would had to head back home to Berlin because they currently are still rarely sold over here. Clem kindly invited me and my peeps to meet him at his office to be in a more quiet atmosphere to talk and to have some coffee, as well.

The Hélas office is located in the 11th arrondissement of Paris. On the outside it has some beautiful old wooden framed glass windows were some caps and cloths are shown. Behind the window is a sort of tiny showroom followed by a narrow corridor that leads into a second larger room that serves as storage space.

Clem friendly received us with the before promised cups of coffee and after we had sat down around a table in the middle of the stockroom we naturally began to talk about the developments of the company, for example the switch from making caps only to producing a broader range of cloths, and also we talked about the upcoming projects and collections.

As it turned out, we happened to be there just shortly before the new collection was going to arrive and the office would have turned into a full packed space where one is barely able to walk through. He also told us that they are currently working on a new Hélas video project that they want to drop very soon.

At the end, Clem provided everyone of us with some fresh head covering and we fixed to meet again in Berlin for the Bright Tradeshow. Thanks for having us, Clem!

The Dutch-based brand POP just released their new #03 collection, which focusses on simple but classic designs. The collection has influences ranging from the French breton stripe, American baseball hats and more. The brand combines those items with cargo pants, half zip sweaters and Hugo Snelooper’s street style photography. All in all POP is presenting a strong style build on their skateboard fundament but without fear of looking over skateboardings boarders. The first drop is this Thursday with a new drop every Thursday after that.

Während sich in unseren Gefilden endlich der Sommer nähert, kehrt am anderen Ende der Welt langsam, aber sicher der Winter ein. Die Australier von Buttergoods stellen also mit diesem Lookbook – analog geschossen von James Whineray und Garth Mariano in den Straßen von Perth – die neue Winterkollektion vor, die trotzdem irgendwie nach Sommer riecht: So kalt wirds ja in Australien nicht werden…

Diamond Supply Co. setzt die Segel und macht sich mit der “Yacht Club” Collection auf den direkten Weg Richtung Sommer 2015. Für das gerade erschienene Lookbook hat man kurzerhand eine Yacht gechartert und Poloshirts, Bermuda Shorts und Anoraks schön in Szene gesetzt. Der Schauplatz: Ein Flughafen im Herzen von Cleptomanien. Im Mittelpunkt: Fünf Personen, vier Koffer und ein klares Ziel – Urlaub! Cäptn Clepto sitzt noch in seinem Van, als im Eingangsbereich von Terminal 1 die Metalltäfelchen einer altmodischen Anzeige beginnen mit einem unrhythmischen klackern aneinander zu schlagen. Schliesslich bleiben sie stehen und kündigen an, daß Flug CX 1991 in Richtung Lodato Beach bereit ist zum Check-in – endlich kann es losgehen. Sein Problem allerdings, er besitzt nur ein Flugticket! Sein Plan wiederum befindet sich im Laderaum! Dort harren nämlich nicht nur seine 4 KomplizenInnen ihrer Dinge, sondern dort steht es auch – das Werkzeug für den perfekten Coup! Das ist die amüsante Story zum neuen Kurzfilm “The Coup” aus dem Hause Cleptomanicx, der mit jeder Menge Liebe zum Detail die neue Spring/Summer Kollektion in Szene setzt. Beim Ansehen könnte man fast meinen in einem Wes Anderson Film gelandet zu sein – großes Kompliment nach Hamburg. In den Hauptrollen zu sehen sind Cäptn Clepto, Tjark Thielker, Benni Vogel, Niklas Speer von Cappeln, sowie Leyli Khatebzadeh. Popcorn raus, Film ab!

Andy Muellers The Quiet Life macht mit dem neuesten Lookbook mal wieder alles richtig und stellt unter Beweis, dass ein Lookbook auch ohne viel Schnickschnack auskommen kann. Dem Fotografen Dan Monick reichte ein Model von einer ordinären Wand um die Frühlingslooks in Szene zu setzen – unsere Favoriten der Kollektion, die ab sofort hier erhältlich ist:

adidas Skateboarding und The Hundreds zeigen die zweite Kollektion ihrer Kollaboration mit dem Namen “The Crush Pack”. Und wer sich fragt, wie es überhaupt zur Kollaboration dieser Zwei Brands kam, bekommt die Antwort zugleich: “The adidas skateboarding product collection references the brand’s soccer heritage and pays homage to two favorite youth activities of The Hundreds’ founders.” Wenn das mal nicht von Herzen kommt.

Nach der erfolgreichen Collabo im letzten Jahr haben sich Nike SB und der Outdoor Brand Poler Stuff für eine weitere gemeinsame Kollektion zusammengetan: Sie umfasst eine Bomberjacke, ein Hemd, ein Beanie, sowie verschiedene Schuhe. Die gesamte Kollektion ist, passend zum Herbst, in ziemlich erdigen Farbtönen gehalten und wird ab dem 22. November bei ausgewählten Nike SB Retailern zu haben sein. Hier gibt es die ersten Eindrücke:

Die Jungs von Golf Wang waren wohl den Sommer über in der Manege, um für ihre neue Kollektion Inspirationen zu sammeln. Die gesamte Strecke läuft unter dem Motto: Weite Schnitte, Color-block Patterns und Streifen. Bei solch einer trippy Garderobe kann der nächste Winter ruhig kommmen. Wir haben ein paar Highlights für euch, featuring Tyler The Creator und dem Rest der Rasselbande.

Für das Herbstlookbook hat man sich bei HUF dafür entschieden mal von der Norm abzuweichen und das Ganze einfach illustrieren zu lassen. Zu diesem Zweck wurde der Illustrator und Designer Seb Gorey an Bord geholt, der schließlich die von Brian Kelley geschossenen Fotos mithilfe von Wasserfarben in einen völlig neues Licht setzte. Das ganze Projekt wurde von Brandon Kuzma mit der Videokamera begleitet – Ein schöner Einblick in dieses Projekt, dessen Resultat ihr unten begutachten könnt. Die Herbstkollektion geht in ein paar Tagen an die Shops und wird auch online erhältlich sein.

DQM New York haben ein Video releast, das in einem ziemlich aussergewöhnlichen Format daherkommt und sich irgendwo zwischen Skate Edit und Lookbook bewegt. Finden wir auf jeden Fall interessant, wenn es auch teilweise ein bisschen anstrengend ist, gibt es doch einiges zu entdecken. Kein Wunder, denn dabei sind Hochkaräter wie Aaron Herrington, Brian Delatorre, Dustin Eggeling, Brian Delaney, Brendan Carroll, Rob Gonyon, Brian Clarke und Lee Smith.
