Friedjof Feye is back with his newest installment of “Rent Free by Fidi”, this time we venture out to Sverige a.k.a. Sweden to rate and skate, “Yeah…. rad (read in Nardwuar voice)”. It is obvious that Fidi did not dare to undertake this daunting task alone, so he asked Nils Brauer & Tjark Thielker to travel with him and meet up with Stockholm resident Alex O’Donahoe. All in all the trip went well and food poisoning ended up not being on the menu even though there might have been a few close calls. The meals were fine and the weather was good, even for Swedish standards (which are low). Enjoy!

Tunnbrödsrulle:

Flatbread filled with mashed potatoes, sausage, cabbage, shrimp salad, and Ketchup on top?
Sorry, but NO.

Kötbullar:

Traditional Swedish Kötbullar is unbeatable. Brown gravy, lingonberries, and mashed potatoes… mmmm…the ultimate sensation of taste. The veggie version is just as tasteful.

Explorers’ Pan:

The Explorers’ pan is a smart idea out of the brain of our host and local Alex O’Donahoe a.k.a. Ayo. It will keep you from getting “hangry” on your lake day.

*Chef’s suggestion: Use mustard and beer as substitutes in case you forgot to bring olive oil.

Räksmörgås:

A crab sandwich for breakfast takes some time to get used to, but it became our go-to meal once we found a nice bakery close to our apartment. The daily dose of mayonnaise makes you feel extra tired after breakfast. I do not recommend eating this when it is hot outside due to a high risk of salmonella infection.

Korv Med Bröd:

Although the classic hot dog is originally from Denmark you can find it pretty much anywhere in Sweden. A quick and tasty snack in between especially if you pick red sausage and roasted onions. Vegetarian options are available at most places.
